Sending a Message
- Before writing out your message - first, decide who the recipients of this message will be.
- Messages can be sent out to either everyone, tags, resident types, specific residents, or specific staff/roles. Typically, only tags should be used for messages to residents and not "resident type." (This is only used to select the functions a user can access when they use VTS Rise.)
- Please keep in mind that tags compound on top of one another, and do not filter down. For example, selecting Floor 20, and Line 02 will not narrow down the selection to unit 2002; rather, you would instead be selecting all residents on the 20th floor and on the 02 line.
- If you would like to email one specific unit/resident, you can do so by selecting the specific resident or unit.
- If you have specific recipients in mind, uncheck the checkbox that writes "Allow everyone to view this news." If you will be addressing everyone, you can skip this step and move on to step 2 below.
- If you publish something for everyone to see, please keep in mind that it will show on the TVs throughout the building.
- For messages appearing on the screen, it's best to add in a picture that fits the theme, which will look better on the screen. 4:3 images work best.

- Once you decide your recipient(s), you will then type in your message.
- Then, you must decide on how you would like your recipient(s) to be able to view your message.
- Typically, you always want to have your messages sent via email. If the message is more important, you can also select to have push notifications sent to the recipient(s) phones. However, these are just rules of thumb, so feel free to use your own discretion when deciding how recipients will receive your message.
- You can also choose an expiry date for your message, which is useful for messages that are only relevant for a specific amount of time.
- Lastly, you can either select "preview" to view how your message will look - or, you can go ahead and post your message.
Editing a Message
- If you have to edit a message, you can do so by going to Engagement -> Community -> clicking the three dots next to the message that was sent, and then clicking on "edit."
- Once you edit your message, you will be asked if you want to resend the notifications that were previously sent out. Most times, clicking no is best; however, there are times you may want to do this, such as if you forgot to put in important information.
- If you need to deactivate a message (if you forgot to put an expiry date, or if you want to take a message off of the TVs), you can do so by going to Engagement -> Community -> clicking the three dots next to the message, and then clicking "deactivate."
